Three more speakers are now confirmed for the EEB’s Annual Conference. For the plenary on “Translating sustainability principles into concrete policies”, the Biodiversity angle will be covered by Mark Demesmaeker (Member of the European Parliament, ECR Group, Belgium). Demesmaeker was the Rapporteur of the of the EP’s Biodiversity report adopted in January 2016. The topic of Circular Economy will be covered by Walter R. Stahel. He has been influential in developing the field of sustainability, by advocating ‘service-life extension of goods – reuse, repair, remanufacture, upgrade technologically’ philosophies as they apply to industrialised economies. He also co-founded the Product Life Institute in Geneva, Switzerland, a consultancy devoted to developing sustainable strategies and policies.
The plenary speakers will also be joining the afternoon break-out sessions on the same topics. We are pleased to inform you that Luc Bas, Director of IUCN European Union Representative Office, will be the Rapporteur of the Biodiversity break-out session.
